Here and There Photos–Taiwan

With modern travel, our world has become bigger and smaller at the same time. As I’ve traveled to new places to meet teachers and students, I’ve experienced new foods, explored beautiful places, and met many people who I hold in my heart.

These photos are from my recent travels to Taiwan with Julie Gold.

I visited Pa Pa Jordan’s school in Taipei. There I met the most amazing group of four-year-olds! They’re using Magic Time in their classes. I spent time with their dedicated teaching staff after my lesson with the children.

We were surprised to meet up with our friends Julia and Craig, co-authors of Oxford Phonics World. We enjoyed a traditional lunch, including Peking duck.

These students from Idear Asia School were the winners in the GSA, Global Sing Along contest. Julie Gold and I went to their school for their awards event, including watching their winning performance, presenting certificates, and leading a lively sing-along!

Julie Gold gathered the students by the piano to sing her grammy-award winning song, “From A Distance.” There was magic in the air! As we traveled from across the world to meet these students, we created bridges of friendship.

Our teachers’ workshop focused on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). We finished the workshop with a sing-along and performance by Julie Gold. Annie Tsai, the winner of the first GSA, has become a new friend!
